The School of Respirology is an independent educational initiative dedicated to advanced training in bronchoscopy, interventional pulmonology, and airway management. The school brings together experienced clinician–educators with extensive expertise in advanced bronchoscopic procedures and postgraduate medical education.
With 20 years of experience in professional training, the School of Respirology has organized numerous educational activities for pulmonologists, intensivists, endoscopy nurses, and other healthcare professionals involved in airway and interventional respiratory care.
The school is committed to advancing interventional bronchoscopy through hands-on training, structured educational programs, and the critical evaluation of emerging technologies. Educational activities cover established techniques such as endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS, EUS), rigid bronchoscopy, and thoracoscopy, as well as advanced interventions including bronchoscopic lung volume reduction, bronchial thermoplasty, cone-beam CT–guided navigation bronchoscopy, and innovative imaging modalities such as confocal laser endomicroscopy and higher harmonic generation imaging.
Educational content is developed and delivered in collaboration with academic clinicians affiliated with leading institutions, including Amsterdam UMC. The School of Respirology operates independently and is not owned, governed, or managed by Amsterdam UMC.
The School of Respirology organizes the annual Amsterdam Bronchoscopy Course, a three-day modular program designed to enhance practical skills, procedural confidence, and clinical understanding in interventional bronchoscopy.
The School of Respirology forms part of SCOPE Education, an independent platform dedicated to medical education, performance tracking, and quality improvement in interventional pulmonology.
