The School of Respirology has been teaching Bronchoscopy & Airway Management for more than 15 years. Through the years we have hosted many courses for pulmonologists, intensivists, endoscopy nurses and other professionals. We have slowly evolved towards the current annual “Modules in Bronchoscopy” course, which is a three day modular course. We are based at Amsterdam University Medical Center where we work in a state-of-the-art interventional pulmonology unit. Apart form standard techniques such as bronchoscopy, endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS), rigid bronchoscopy and thoracoscopy, we are dedicated to developing innovative technology that can push the field of interventional pulmonology forward. Examples are imaging tehcniques such as confocal endomicroscopy, harmonic generation imaging, optical coherence tomography and new techniques such as bronchoscopic lung volume reduction, bronchial thermoplasty and biodegradable stents.
